ECG

Electrocardiography is the measurement of electrical activity in the heart. This technique enables us to to accurately measure the heart rhythm thereby diagnosing dysrythmias (palpitations) enabling the appropriate medication to be prescribed.

In addition it is used to screen hearts for a condition known as cardiomyopathy which is a heart muscle problem common in larger breeds of dog such as Labradors, Retrievers, German Shepherds and Great Danes.

The procedure normally takes about 20 minutes and we prefer not to give sedatives to these patients.
