Sheep
The Practice caters for all Flock sizes from pet flocks to the 1000 head units.
A large percentage of our work is for the medium sized 20-70 sheep flock where we offer individual flock health plans designed as a guide to advise on feeding, condition scoring, parasite control, vaccination and disease prevention as well as routine fertility management .
These Health plans are highly informative and are of our own design , giving day to day advise specific to your flock through out the year.

Fertility checks
Finding out the cause of this year’s lambing losses and taking action now will help to reduce losses next year. Intervet’s annual subsidised blood testing service FlockCheck was recently launched for 2008 for producers wanting to blood test ewes that have aborted.
The two main causes of abortion – accounting for over 67% of all diagnosed cases – are enzootic abortion (EAE) and toxoplasmosis. And when abortion rates are above 2% within a flock, a vaccination programme more than pays for itself.
FlockCheck results, reported back via the practice, show whether a flock has been exposed to EAE and/or toxoplasmosis. This allows an appropriate vaccination programme to be planned later in the year. In the case of toxoplasmosis, all susceptible animals (including any bought-in replacements) should be vaccinated with Toxovax® the only licensed vaccine for this nasty cause of infectious abortion, prior to tupping. Where enzootic abortion is also detected, Toxovax can be given at the same time as Enzovax® (EAE abortion vaccine).
Farmers interested in FlockCheck can get details from the practice.
