The British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) is delighted to welcome The Retired Greyhound Trust as its Official Charity for 2012.

The BVNA will support the Trust in a bid to help raise much-needed funds for homeless greyhounds at the end of their racing careers, and to promote the great work of the Trust and its volunteers.

Peter Laurie, Chief Executive of the Retired Greyhound Trust, said: “This partnership makes perfect sense. The lives of BVNA members revolve around animals. They have a great appreciation and understanding of what it takes to care for so many retired greyhounds around the country while we are trying to find them loving new homes. I am delighted that we have been invited to partner with an organisation whose members will really care about what we do. We look forward to working with you to raise lots of money for the charity throughout 2012.”

Claire Fraser, President of BVNA, said: “We chose the Retired Greyhound Trust because of the great work its volunteers undertake for the welfare of the dogs.”

‘This is not my usual vet practice  . However back in the summer of 2011 my dog Dylan became unwell in the night , while I was visiting my parents  . We immediately contacted the local vets . From the very start , nothing was a problem and the care of my dog was the priority . Not being my usual vet I was completely bowled over in the genuine care and professionalism of Miss Alex McCallum . Dylan my beloved dog had suffered a Stroke , Dylan responded well to Alex like I’ve never seen him react with my local vet . Dylan went on to live 5 happy months and was actually put to rest by Alex on another visit to my parents . Because I new he would receive such a high quality of care . Alex is a remarkable vet and deserves some recognition . Bringing health care for vets back to where it first started .’
